Spring Maintenance Tips for Your HVAC System

Warm springtime weather presents the perfect opportunity to do some home maintenance tasks. An important home component that’s worth paying attention to at this time of year is your HVAC system. Here the local HVAC installation experts at Perfect Degree HVAC share maintenance tips to keep in mind this spring.

Replace your air filter. If you replaced your HVAC filter not long before winter arrived, you may not be thinking about doing it again soon. This spring, however, it’s a good idea to clean or replace it. Air filters, after all, play an integral role in the health and efficiency of your heating and cooling system. Installing a fresh filter will better help you deal with pollen and other airborne contaminants this spring.

Check your ducts. Give your home’s ductwork a thorough inspection this spring. Dirt and dust may form inside it, posing a health hazard. It could also be leaking out air through gaps, seams and punctures around the ducts.. Leaks in the ducts may contribute to your HVAC system using more energy than intended to provide consistently cool air in your home. Call on an expert technician to have your ducts inspected, cleaned and maintained.

Clear the area around the outdoor unit. Be sure to sweep or remove any loose debris lying around your HVAC system’s outdoor unit, like dead leaves, twigs and other material. Keep the surrounding area clear of any obstructions that might impede airflow.

Schedule routine maintenance. The best way to ensure your HVAC system’s performance this spring is to call in an experienced HVAC technician. They can detect potential issues and fix them before they become bigger problems in the future. Even if there are no existing problems, it’s still best to have an HVAC pro take care of your investment.
